Brock Lesnar Update, Bad News For Spike TV, More

-- In the cable ratings this past week, USA Network was first with a 2.5 average. ESPN had a 1.8 average and TNT had a 1.7. Sci-Fi came in 19th place with an 0.8 average while Spike fell out of the top 25 for the first time probably since the late 90s. In the demographics, RAW was behind only Jon & Kate Plus 8 and the BET Awards.
-- The Daily Show had Mike Kim, author of “Escaping North Korea”, and he mentioned the government spending $15 million to bring pro wrestling into the country which was for the two 1995 NJPW shows which drew the two largest crowds in pro wrestling history. 170,000 for Ric Flair vs. Antonio Inoki and 150,000 for Shinya Hashimoto vs. Scott Norton.
-- Next week Spike will begin airing the Countdown to UFC 100 on Tuesday night at 10, Friday night at midnight and Saturday at 4 PM Eastern. The show is built around Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir and Georges St. Peirre vs. Thiago Alves. UFC 100 takes place Saturday, July 11.
